CX500 Regulator Replacement

Context
Never a good sign when you’re riding down one of those newfangled smart motorways and see your temperature gauge intermittently hammering itself against the red end of the gauge. Never.
Thankfully on this occasion it turns out that it was a simple case of a failed 7V regulator and the thermostat had been operating fine the whole time. Phew…
Ya see: Since the battery voltage fluctuates somewhat while you’re riding around, Honda fitted a 7V regulator just below the tmperature gauge in ensure that it would read the same irrespective of riding conditions. I’m 90% sure it’s just a current based sensor with the “sender” being a thermistor. But don’t quote me on that. Probably.
Either way, after deciphering the i-dont-know-what-the-hell-they-were-thinking colour coding on the regulator, I measured the output at 10.7V. This is clearly broken since last I checked (10.7 != 7) yields 1.
